Biography

Background

     A trial lawyer with a practice devoted almost exclusively to the defense of serious felony cases at the grand jury stage and in the state and federal trial courts, E. Peter Parker has defended a wide variety of major felony criminal cases. The hallmarks of his approach to each case are thorough preparation and investigation, first-rate legal research skills and written pleadings and aggressive, energetic and persuasive advocacy, both in court and in negotiating acceptable resolutions short of trial. He has earned the highest possible rating of AV from the international legal association Martindale-Hubbell

     Experienced at representing individuals and businesses under government investigation or accused of white-collar crimes, Mr. Parker ensures that his clients know about and obtain the full protection of their rights under the constitution, and demands that prosecutors and government investigators respect those rights.  He successfully has persuaded prosecutors to close investigations without bringing criminal charges.  In cases where charges have been brought, Mr. Parker is often able to obtain favorable resolutions short of trial.  An exceptional trial lawyer, Mr. Parker has tried a number of cases to acquittal.


Experience

     Since 1999, Mr. Parker has had his own criminal defense practice.  He has the resources and staff to handle the largest, most complex and sophisticated cases.  

     From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Parker was an Assistant Federal Defender in the Boston Federal Defender’s Office.  His practice during this period consisted entirely of representing indigent defendants in felony criminal cases in the federal court.

     From 1988 to 1995, Mr. was an associate at the Boston law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo.  Mintz Levin is the preeminent white-collar criminal defense firm in the city and was the first to develop a dedicated criminal defense practice group.  Mr. Parker participated in the defense of a sitting United States Representative charged with accepting illegal gratuities, a major race track under government investigation, the son of the former governor of Rhode Island charged with conspiring with the governor in a public corruption case and other high-profile cases.
